Buyer
Abingdon- outskirts
Upto £40,000 DOE
Rocking Zebra recruitment is looking for an experienced Buyer to join our established client based on the outskirts of Abingdon.
Our client sells a wide range of distinctive upmarket merchandise to carefully targeted audiences through attractively themed mail order catalogues and websites. To support their continued success, they are now looking for an experienced buyer to expand their fashion & accessories range across multiple brands. Reporting to the buying director, you will join a small yet busy friendly team with line management of a Buying Assistant
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop exclusive product in key areas to make each brand distinctive
- Manage a diverse supplier base including UK and international suppliers, sourcing new manufacturers and importers as required. Audit suppliers as required
- Ensure that the best terms are negotiated with suppliers and retail prices set to optimize profit
- Analyse sales and profit reports to build profitable future ranges
- Maintain an updated knowledge of current trends and competitors' activities, attending domestic and international trade fairs as required
- Ensure all ranges are delivered on time and on spec, working to the critical path for catalogue production and merchandising
- Manage product data effectively; ensuring selection spread sheets, specifications etc. are completed
- Write copy for all products managed for both catalogue and the web outlining key features and relevance to the brand accurately
- Establish effective relationship with call centre briefing them on new lines and dealing with ad hoc queries
- Manage liaison with warehouse to ensure efficient quality assurance and remedy process for areas of responsibility
Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience as a buyer, with mail order/web experience ideally
- Creative flair, an accurate understanding of the brands' target customers
- A proven track record in developing fashion and accessories ranges
- Strong commercial skills, and no fear of hard work
- Excellent numeracy
- Advanced Excel skills
- Self-motivated and confident
- Good literacy
