Events & Community Manager- part time

£23320 pro rata

The Community Fundraiser is responsible for assisting with the organisation and delivery of the programme of community fundraising activities and income streams.
The prime purpose is to maximise the potential for external fundraising undertaken on the charity’s behalf.
The role has a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends in order to support events.

Responsibilities will include but will not be restricted to:

To initiate and research ideas for new activities and community events
To work within the limits of the annual community fundraising expenditure budget
To work to plans agreed and signed off by the line manager
To work within the legal framework and good practice guidelines for fundraising activity
To comply with requirements of the Data Protection Act
To schedule and supervise Fundraising volunteers, in line with agreed admin / clerical activities and at events

To lead and manage, in conjunction with the events and community manager, the development and promotion of community fundraising initiatives throughout the year
To provide guidance and support to individuals, groups or organisations within the community who wish to raise funds for the charity
To provide as much assistance as practicably possible for external activities held on behalf of the charity, e.g. provision of posters, tickets etc
To ensure that all external activities are warmly recognised, acknowledged and thanked
To proactively seek opportunities to fundraise in the local community
To seek opportunities to make presentations, give talks etc, to local groups, societies and special interest groups
To build relationships with all community audiences via direct contact e.g. mayors, civic leaders, Rotary groups, Lions groups, golf clubs etc
To recruit, manage and support supporters, particularly Support Groups, and to seek ways of encouraging further developments
To represent the charity in receiving cheques, attending events
To liaise with local media via the Communications team to promote and publicise events and activities
To organise and supervise fundraising volunteers to ensure their support is fully utilised for maximum benefit
To contribute to feedback and evaluation of all fundraising activity to enable improved future management and planning
To ensure the reputation of the charity is a key consideration in all fundraising activities
To be committed to continued professional development to meet the requirements of the job
To maintain accurate records and information on supporters and their activity

Knowledge and Qualifications

Knowledge of fundraising and the voluntary sector
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
Driver, with a full, current UK driving licence

Experience

Of planning and organising events
Of working as part of a busy team with a varied workload
Of speaking in public (or confident to do this)
Of working with the general public
Of taking responsibility and acting on own initiative
