Rocking Zebra is recruiting for a “top 5 agency” in the UK.  They are looking to appoint a Head of Media Planning.

We are looking for a Media Planning Group Head to join a growing Media team, within a vibrant and friendly agency. You will work together with the Media & Programmatic Director, media and account management teams, providing leadership, strategic direction and input for media planning across digital display, affiliate marketing, DR and ATL media. You should leverage your experience, knowledge of our clients’ businesses and media planning skills to push innovative thinking.

The Media Planning Group Head will generate original and clever media ideas and articulate “the big picture” above and beyond the detail level, and sell services and capabilities to both existing and prospective clients. You will lead by example and inspire the media team to generate original and creative media ideas.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver on sales targets set by the Media & Programmatic Director, which contribute to the overall revenue targets set by the Senior Management Team.
Work closely with the Media & Programmatic Director and Account Directors to develop and implement growth plans for existing clients.
Sell services and capabilities in new business pitches to prospective clients.
Maintain a highly visible presence with the senior managers within our client base, and direct, develop and oversee planning objectives and strategies that coincide with the client’s marketing direction.
Work with the Media Managers to lead and direct core media partners, working with them to develop media ‘firsts’ that will wow clients and demonstrate to the market that we are different from typical media agencies.
Provide thought leadership internally, building opinion on topical subjects, leading discussions and debate within the business and communicating views more widely in the press and at events.
Challenge the Programmatic Display team on the set up and optimisation of programmatic campaigns.

Key skills and qualities we are looking for include:

A deep understanding of audience planning, including utilising insights from tools such as TGI.
A passion for the digital space and experience in selling and managing display campaigns.
Experience in selling and managing ATL campaigns to include TV, outdoor, radio etc.
An understanding of programmatic display and the ability to challenge planning decisions.
Motivated, enthusiastic and proactive attitude.
Analytical approach with strong excel skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Lateral thinking and multi-tasking skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently.
Graduate with an academic degree and A levels.
Ideally you will have a deep understanding of DoubleClick and be able to challenge the way we currently use it, but this is not a pre-requisite of the role.
