Junior UX Designer
Swindon
£20,000 - £25,000 DOE + company bonus + benefits
Rocking Zebra Recruitment is looking for a Junior UX Designer to join an industry leading and continuously growing business based in Swindon.
This is a brand new role working within a newly created UX team, which interlinks between both the IT and Marketing teams. You will be responsible for the design and styling of application software, including the company websites, user journeys and workflows so that the technological and functional goals of the business are achieved. You will input to the user experience and ensure that the sites are modern and engaging and in addition you will also support with some ad-hoc design for the creation of material to support direct channels- direct marketing and email campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the planning and development lifecycle for each website
• Analyse, plan and design appropriate solutions
• Responsible for the amendment, creation and maintenance of the layout, visual appearance and usability of key transactional websites, whilst ensuring that brand continuity is maintained
• Contribute to the analysis and design of applications
• Contribute to style guides and enforce the consistent look and feel of multiple internal systems
• Take part in discussion sessions to produce different design concepts
• Produce designs using a variety of tools, be that: HTML, CSS, Photoshop, illustrator, Sketch, XD etc.
• Testing – usability, multi-browser and user acceptance
• Liaison with project stakeholders (including 3rd parties)
• Suggest and champion suitable process improvement initiatives
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate within web design, computer science, product design or graphic design! Or you may be a designer working within the print or digital space and looking to specialise. Or, perhaps a junior front end developer looking to change direction!
Skills & Experience
• Degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design or other related subject would be preferable
• Experience of using digital design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch or similar)
• Practical front end experience building websites including HTML, CSS and JavaScript (desirable)
• Portfolio showing strong, - primarily digital - design skills
• Strong Typographic and page layout skills.
• Good communication and time management
• Enthusiastic and ambitious
• Clear and effective communicator
• Ability to analyse and understand problems, offering solution
